about

With the prospect of a group playing these tracks now a reality, it became necessary to re-record Anchor, Pt. I in the same key/tuning as parts II and III were later recorded in. In the interest of constant improvement, some other elements of the track were updated in addition to the key/tuning, and I sincerely hope you'll find something to enjoy between this and the original version.

lyrics

My anchor
Is pulling me under with the weight of
My choice, my need
To escape the world that I have made

This is the answer
Given for my self-centered
Daydreams in rage
This is the gift
Given to me
In exchange for all that I have returned

Bury the blame
For to admit is to
Tarnish the name
Of each one before you
Every link within the chain

While we try to find the common ground
Between ourselves and what keeps them in the lead
They’ll write the rules by which we’ll play
And we’ll have to trust in them; we’ll find
We are the problem here
Why aren’t you satisfied?
Why aren’t I?

With these last words, the flood converges on my ears and lungs
My brothers, still around me, each by their own chains hung
The water
Is clouded with decay
The water
Our own sunken grave

The fittest oversee the sight beneath
Without reaction, without sympathy
Each thread they pull, a world they weave

While we tried to find the common ground
Between ourselves and what keeps them in the lead
It never mattered what we believed
Only that it was not the truth

While they conquer and divide, we lament
Every tithe, every offering
Every prayer

Why are you not satisfied?
